Here are some great tips on how to prepare for your family photography session! We are going to create some great memories from your family photo session. I feel that one of the most important things to do is to get everyone excited about the idea of getting their photo taken. The idea of standing in front of a camera can be daunting to some, but it’s important to remember that this is an experience and you enjoying it is one of my priorities.
Knowing how to prepare for your family photography session can be a daunting thought but hopefully this post will give you some helpful guidance! When you tell your children that they will be getting their photo taken let them know we are going to have so much fun. These photos will hang on your walls for years to come so make the most of it.
coordinate your clothes
When I say coordinate, I don’t mean all wear the exact same clothes in style and colour. You want to have your individual style in these portraits. It is great to mix colours that work well with each other or to have a variety of shades of one particular colour. Lay each family members clothes out to see if the colours work well together. Feel free to bring one outfit change. If you want to go super dressy with gowns and shirts, do it!
Avoid wearing distracting clothing such as bright colours, patterns, cartoon characters, logos and brands on show.These types of clothes are too distracting and take away from your pretty face!
Look at the decor in your home
These photos will be hanging in your home, so it’s important to tie them into your home colour scheme.
An idea for clothing and your background colour choice is to style it off the colours that are most prominent in your home or colours that you love! You want your portraits to fit into your home style and aesthetic.
Things to bring with you
Here are a few tips for things to bring to your family photography session.
Wipes/tissues
Clean/healthy snacks or treats (we don’t want any stains on clothes)
Water or a soft drink
Hair brush
Make-up in case of a needed touch up
A backup outfit incase of spills/staining
If your child has a favourite toy, bring it along!
