A little about me, your portrait photography specialist

My name is Amie, and I am the face behind Amie McAllister Photography. A Ballygowan, Co. Down, based studio photographer specialising in maternity, newborn, child, family and pet photography.

I have always immersed myself within the creative world. Even from the tender age of 3 were I doodled my favourite cartoon characters into my sketchbook… well at least that’s what I think they were supposed to be!

Creativity has always been something that has been a big part of my life, when I’m not in the studio you will usually find me doing something craft related. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I’m very into creating things – anything from upcycling furniture to making fancy dress costumes and planning themed parties/events. I love seeing the end result of something I’ve created, and I love it even more when I see my clients proudly hang their portraits and lovingly display their albums in their homes.

My photographic journey began in secondary school, basing my Art projects around photographs and experimenting with my Dads film SLR with my older brother. Stemming slightly away from photography I progressed to study Graphic Design at Belfast Metropolitan College, where I gained an HND. It is here that I discovered my passion lay not with design but within portraiture photography. Keen to further my career, I made the decision to move across the pond to study and achieve a BA Hons in Photography at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, Surrey.

I have since obtained additional training to further develop my skill in photography and gained an understanding in the correct safety procedures involved when working in this environment.

This is a real passion of mine and I will continue to build on the knowledge of my craft and in turn offer the best quality of service to you, my client.
