Hi, I’m Amie; the face behind Amie McAllister Photography. An award winning portrait photography studio. Based in Ballygowan, County Down, Northern Ireland. I specialise in newborn photography, maternity portraits, baby milestones, child and family photography, as well as pet photo sessions.

My creative journey began in my early years and has remained a focal point through both my work and personal life. I’ve always been passionate about making things, from drawing and designing to crafting and photography. When I’m not in the studio you will usually find me doing something craft related. Anything from up-cycling furniture, making fancy dress costumes to planning themed parties/events. Over the years, that passion evolved into a career I love. There's nothing better than capturing life’s most precious moments. Seeing my clients proudly display their portraits and albums in their homes is such an honour.

My path into photography began in secondary school. Where I used photography in my art projects and experimented with my dad’s old film SLR camera. I later studied Graphic Design at Belfast Metropolitan College, earning an HND. It is here that I discovered my passion lay not with design but within portraiture photography. Keen to further my career, I made the decision to move across the pond. I attended the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, Surrey. It is here where I studied and achieved a BA Hons in Photography.

I have since obtained additional training to further develop my skill in photography. Gaining an understanding in the correct safety procedures involved when working in this environment. I will continue to build on the knowledge of my craft and in turn offer the best quality of service to you, my client.

My pet friendly studio in County Down is a welcoming, relaxed environment where families can feel at ease. I proudly serve clients from Belfast, Lisburn, Newtownards, Banbridge, Armagh, Newry, and across Northern Ireland.
